The potential of turquoise hydrogen: SPIRIT gets down to business

SPIRIT — Sustainable Innovative and Revolutionary Production of Turquoise Hydrogen — is a €4 million project supported by the Lombardy Region. It involves Pietro Fiorentini, X-nano, Enipower, Edison, Ampere Transition and the University of Milan-Bicocca.

The project focuses on turquoise hydrogen produced through methane pyrolysis, which converts natural gas into gaseous hydrogen and solid carbon without direct CO₂ emissions. Its goal is to develop a pilot plant to validate the technology on a pre-industrial scale and subsequently design an industrial version.
